Accessing therapy

Taking the first step towards feeling better

Starting therapy can feel daunting. I want to make the process as straightforward and welcoming as possible — so you can focus on what matters most: you.

How it works

From your very first message to your first session, I'll guide you through every step. There's no pressure and no rush.

01

Get in touch

Send me a message or book a free 15–20 minute consultation. This is a no-obligation chat to see if we're a good fit.

02

Free consultation

We'll have a brief call where you can share a little about what's brought you to therapy and ask any questions you have.

03

Your first session

If we decide to work together, we'll book your first full session. We'll take things at your pace — there's no script to follow.

04

Ongoing support

Sessions are typically weekly or fortnightly. We'll regularly review how things are going and adjust our approach as needed.

Common questions

It's completely normal to have questions before starting therapy. Here are some of the things people often ask.

How long does therapy last?

This varies from person to person. Some people find short-term therapy of 6–12 sessions helpful, while others benefit from longer-term work. We'll discuss what feels right for you.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what's brought you to therapy and what you're hoping to get from it. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes — everything you share is kept strictly confidential. The only exceptions are if I have serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, which I'll always discuss with you first where possible.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, all sessions are held online via video call, making therapy accessible wherever you are in the UK.

What if I need to cancel a session?

I ask for at least 48 hours' notice for cancellations. Sessions cancelled with less notice may be charged at the full rate.

Are you registered with a professional body?

Yes, I'm a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and BAATN (Black, African and Asian Therapy Network), and I work within their ethical frameworks.

Ready to take that first step?

I offer a free 15–20 minute consultation — no obligation, no pressure. Just a chance to talk and see how I can help.
